Public Notice
Posted June 4, 2008
The City of Santa Maria's Storm Water Management Plan is available for public comment through August 4, 2008.
The General Permit for the Discharge of Storm Water from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (Water Quality Order No. 2003-0005-DWQ), requires small municipalities and urbanized areas to develop and implement a Storm Water Management Program designed to reduce the discharge of pollutants through their MS4s to the Maximum Extent Practicable (MEP).
The City of Santa Maria has developed and submitted a Storm Water Management Plan (SWMP) to Central Coast Water Board staff. We are posting the SWMP for a 60-day period, during which, a member of the public may request a public hearing by the Central Coast Water Board. Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing to the address below by 5:00 pm on August 4, 2008, and must contain a summary of the reasons the hearing is being requested. If there are no requests for a hearing, General Permit coverage for the City of Santa Maria will begin on August 11, 2008.
Water Board staff will post a Table of Required Changes for the SWMP by July 3, 2008. The Table of Required Changes will identify changes and/or additions to the SWMP that Water Board staff require for recommending approval of the SWMP to the Water Board.
If you have questions concerning the City of Santa Maria SWMP, please contact Dominic Roques at (805) 542-4780 or by email at droques@waterbaords.ca.gov. If you are unable to download the SWMP, please send a reply to this email to make alternative arrangements.
Thank you
