Timber Waiver and General Waste Discharge Requirements Guidance
On June 4, 2009, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, North Coast Region adopted a revised Waiver 'ORDER NO. R1-2009-0038', Categorical Waiver of Waste Discharge Requirements For Discharges Related to Timber Harvesting Activities On Non-Federal Lands in the North Coast Region. This Waiver can provide coverage for low impact THPs, NTMPs, Modified THPs (MTHPs), Emergencies, Exemptions, and timber harvest projects in compliance with the Garcia River TMDL. The new waiver supersedes the 2004 Waiver (Order No. R1-2004-0016), and includes both minor and major changes. Significant changes are summarized in the guidance document available at the link below. Landowners and other interested parties are encouraged to read the new Order as well as the guidance document. Regional Board staff are available to answer questions regarding the Categorical Waiver and are more than happy to conduct site visits to help landowners and foresters understand the conditions of the Waiver and what is necessary to satisfy those conditions.
