DOD and SCP Activities

The San Diego Regional Board DOD Program is responsible for soil and ground water cleanup of Department of Defense (DoD) and other Site Cleanup Program (SCP) sites. The DOD and SCP staffs also track the progress of known DoD Underground Storage Tanks (UST) releases in the GeoTracker database. The DOD and SCP staffs enforce the policies and procedures for the investigation, cleanup and abatement of discharges under the California Water Code, Section 13304. The staff accomplishes enforcement of water quality requirements by providing effective regulatory oversight for various types of contaminated sites in the above referenced programs, performing timely enforcement actions, and interface with local, state and federal agencies to resolve water quality issues. The DOD and Site Cleanup Programs support the mission of the Regional Board by: participating in technical work groups for the development of local guidance on mitigation of contaminated sites, developing and distributing technical guidance to the regulated community and local agencies, and achieving public outreach and education through participation in public speaking opportunities.
