Data are dissolved nickel measurements of grab samples collected through two monitoring programs. The first is the ongoing Regional Monitoring Program (RMP) in San Francisco Bay. The second set of data was from a special discharger-funded study to develop copper and nickel site-specific objectives (SSOs) that began in 2001. These data were taken throughout San Francisco Bay, but the bulk of the data are from the deepwater portion of the Bay. There were 107 individual dissolved nickel measurements from water samples taken in San Pablo Bay, and none of these measurements exceeded the objective. |

| Water Quality Objective/Criterion: |
The Regional Water Board Basin Plan contains water quality objectives of 8.2 microgram/Liter as a 4-day average and, 74 microgram/Liter as a 1-hour average. These objectives were approved by USEPA in January 2005 and are contained in the Regional Board Basin Plan in Table 3-3. |

A Bay-wide Hg TMDL has been developed and approved by USEPA (2/12/2008) and an approved implementation plan is expected to result in attainment of the standard. This provides a sufficient justification in favor of placing this water segment-pollutant combination in the Water Quality Limited Segments Being Addressed portion of the section 303(d) list. |
