Quarterly Public Meetings on the Clean Water Act Section 316b Compliance Process
The Regional Board has issued an NPDES Permit, Order No. R8-2006-0011, to the AES HBGS, which regulates the discharge of waste to the Pacific Ocean from the facility. Order R8-2006-0011 also establishes a schedule for compliance with Section 316(b) of the Clean Water Act, and the implementing regulations at 40 CFR Part 9, 122 et al., in order to address the impingement and entrainment impacts of the once through cooling system on the beneficial uses of the Pacific Ocean. Order No. R8-2006-0011 requires that AES, "shall conduct quarterly meetings (until the Regional Board approves the Comprehensive Demonstration Study) with interested stakeholders to discuss the progress of and issues pertaining to the consideration of compliance with the requirements of this Order pertaining to implementation of the Clean Water Act Section 316(b) Phase II Rule, including investigations leading to the development and submittal of the Comprehensive Demonstration Study."

Schedule of Quarterly Public Meeting
The meetings are tentatively scheduled for the third Thursday of the month following the end of each quarter, at the AES Huntington Beach Generating Station Conference Room, 21730 Newland St., Huntington Beach
First Meeting: January 18, 2007, 7:00 pm
Second Meeting: June 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the AES HBGS
Third Meeting: September 13, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the AES HBGS
Fourth Meeting: December 18, 2007 at the AES HBGS
