Water Boards: Financial Assistance Programs - Grants and Loans

Prop 13 Coastal NPS Pollution Control Program

This program provides funding for projects that restore and protect the water quality and environment of coastal waters, estuaries, bays, and near shore waters and groundwater. The program provides grants to municipalities, local public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions for coastal nonpoint source projects. Two special designated projects for Huntington Beach and San Diego are identified. Sixty percent of the funds will be allocated to projects in the Counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Bernardinon, and Ventura. Forty percent of the funds will be allocated to projects in the remaining counties.

FUNDING INFORMATION

Eligible Applicants: Municipalities, local public agencies, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, Indian tribes, and state agencies
Eligible Project Types:
  1. Improve water quality at public beaches and to meet bacteriological standards.
  2. Provide comprehensive capability for monitoring, collecting, and analyzing ambient water quality.
  3. Make improvements to existing sewer collection systems and septic systems for restoration and protection of coastal water quality.
  4. Implement storm water and runoff pollution reduction and prevention programs consistent with the state's nonpoint source control program.
