LG 137-1 WEEKLY MANUAL TANK GAUGING FOR SMALL UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS
Revision of LG 137 has been made in accordance with Title 23, Division 3, Chapter 16, Section 2645, California Code of Regulations. After December 22, 1998, manual tank gauging can only be used as a leak detection method for underground storage tanks with a capacity of 1,000 gallons or less. Please note that manual tank gauging is not the same as manual inventory reconciliation (MIR). MIR also no longer can be used as a leak detection method to satisfy monitoring requirements. Attached is a copy of the revised booklet "Weekly Manual Tank Gauging for Small Underground Storage Tanks." Please make notes of the changes and implement these changes to your monitoring program accordingly.
Copies of this booklet are also made available to tank owners
and operators who use weekly manual tank gauging. Please fax your request
to (916) 227-4349 or call our publication recording at (916) 227-4303. Or
you can down load the information in the booklet from the State Water Resources
Control Board web page:
www.waterboards.ca.gov/ust/usthmpg.htm.
If you have questions about manual tank gauging, please call Mr. David Holtry of the Division of Clean Water Programs at (916) 227-4332.
Sincerely,
