2015 Pyrethroids Water Quality Criteria Reports
- Water quality criteria for six pyrethroids were updated in 2015 by Regional Board staff to include recent studies. Criteria were derived by following the UC Davis Methodology for Derivation of Pesticide Water Quality Criteria for the Protection of Aquatic Life (Final Phase II Report). These reports are currently undergoing peer review. A public comment period related to the Pyrethroid TMDL and Basin Plan Amendment will follow the peer review.
Water Quality Criteria Reports (UC Davis Phase III)
- Final Fipronil Criteria Report
This report describes the derivation of water quality criteria and interim bioavailable sediment quality criteria for the insecticide fipronil and several fipronil degradates. Fipronil is an insecticide that has not been identified on the 303(d) list of impaired waters, but monitoring data indicate that there is a risk of impairments in urban watersheds. Staff is not currently developing a specific control program for fipronil. Fipronil water quality criteria may be used to assess monitoring data and provide information on the environmental fate of this compound.- Response to Comments on Draft Fipronil Criteria Report

- Oxyfluorfen, Prometryn, Simazine, Trifluralin
Oxyfluorfen, prometryn, simazine, trifluralin are herbicides that are indicated on the 303(d) list for impairing water bodies in the Central Valley region. Staff are not currently developing control programs for any of these four herbicides. These criteria may be used to assess monitoring data and provide information on whether these herbicides are priorities for developing control programs or if the impairments may be addressed through other means.- Final Oxyfluorfen Criteria Report - This report describes derivation of water quality criteria for the herbicide oxyflurofen
