Climate Change Work Plan

The Central Valley Region Climate Change Work Plan (Work Plan) is being prepared to present current and proposed initiatives that the Central Valley Water Board is undertaking in response to climate change. Key focus areas for the Work Plan include addressing impacts due to drought and flooding, issues related to groundwater quality, changes in surface water flow and water supply, and impacts on facilities with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR) permits. The Work Plan also focuses on disadvantaged communities, which are especially vulnerable to the impacts of climate change because of aging infrastructure and a reliance on shallow domestic supply wells. The Work Plan presents an approximate timeline for the implementation of major Central Valley Water Board initiatives. The ultimate goal of the Work Plan is to develop programmatic priorities and an overall framework that promotes resiliency in response to climate change.
