Project Name:

Lauterwasser Creek Sediment Removal Project
City/County:

Orinda, Contra Costa County
Comment Period:

6/11/2021 - 7/2/2021
Project Description:

The purpose of the proposed project is to restore the natural stream gradient to reduce upstream sediment deposition. The channel between the weir and the culvert is estimated to be two feet higher than its historic condition. The proposed activities include removing the excess sediment and the instream concrete weir and increasing the gradient of the creek to improve flow and sediment transport. The new low‐flow channel is designed to mimic low‐flow channel dimensions upstream and downstream of the proposed project area and restore historic conditions to this reach.
