Project Name:

Stevens Creek Steelhead Passage Improvement Project
City/County:

Cupertino, Santa Clara County
Comment Period:

5/22/2021 - 6/12/2021
Project Description:

The Stevens Creek Steelhead Passage Improvement Project is a small restoration project with the primary purpose of removing a relict low water concrete vehicle crossing that creates a potential impediment to movement of juvenile steelhead, with the addition of an at-grade rock grade control structure to stabilize the channel bed and installation of four large wood features to improve aquatic habitat by decreasing water velocities during high winter flows (providing velocity refugia) and increasing scour to create pool habitat for salmonids during summer low-flows, as well as reducing the potential for bank erosion and associated fine sediment delivery.
