Project Description:

Replacement of a fish screen system with a state-of-the-art fish screen in front of the current UPI intake structure to protect aquatic life from impingement and entrainment. UPI is due to renew its NPDES permit which prompted 40 CFR 122.21(r) Application requirements for facilities with cooling water intake structures. The project’s purpose is to install a new fish intake screen meeting criteria specified by ‘40 CFR 125.94(c) BTA Standards for Impingement Mortality’ and ‘Fish Screening Criteria for Anadromous Salmonids’, NOAA NMFS.
