Local Assistance

The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board), in coordination with the Department of Water Resources (DWR), is committed to engaging local groundwater managers in the development of locally-driven sustainable groundwater solutions. The following information may help local agencies sustainably manage California’s groundwater resources.

SGMA Information Meetings - October and November 2015

The State Water Resources Control Board and the Department of Water Resources held a series of informational meetings which included presentations on the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and the State's role, financial assistance resources, and an update on recent drought activities. The meetings also included a discussion of SGMA activity in local basins. Meeting presentations and handouts are available below.

Proposition 1, passed by voters in November 2014, provides DWR with $100 million for sustainable groundwater management planning and related projects. The proposition also provides substantial funding for groundwater cleanup, storage projects, and other actions that will help local agencies sustainably manage groundwater.
