The Salmon Creek Coast Area of Special Biological Significance (ASBS) is in Monterey County on the Big Sur Coast, south of the Julia Pfeiffer Burns ASBS. This ASBS, which protects 3.4 miles of coastline and 1,458 acres of marine habitat, lies entirely within the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and the California Sea Otter Game Refuge. There are many rugged, steep cliffs along this stretch of coastline, greatly limiting access to the waterline. The large wilderness watersheds of two perennial creeks, Soda Spring Creek and Salmon Creek, drain into the ASBS. Much of these watersheds are located in the Los Padres National Forest.
Key pollution threats are sediment and road runoff.
