Recycled Water Policy
The Water Boards recognize the importance of recycled water as a critical water supply for California and an important resource for diversifying local supplies and improving water resilience. The State Water Board will evaluate the feasibility of the current recycled water goals and track progress towards those goals through data generated by the volumetric annual report.

Volumetric Annual Reporting
In March 2020, the State Water Board released the volumetric annual reporting module in GeoTracker for all wastewater and recycled water permittees to begin reporting annual volumes of wastewater and recycled water per the requirements of the Recycled Water Policy. Approximately 820 wastewater and recycled water permittees statewide are required to submit volume data on influent, effluent, and recycled water use starting for the calendar year 2019.
The State Water Board Executive Director granted an extension for the calendar year 2019 report due to COVID-19. Permittees are required to submit the volumetric annual report for the 2019 calendar year in GeoTracker by June 30th, 2020.Volumetric Annual Report deadline extension letter
GeoTracker is the State Board’s database with a geographic information system (GIS) online interface to access environmental data.
The volumetric annual reporting module is an expansion of the electronic submittal of information (ESI) portion of GeoTracker.
