Water Board staff assessed Toxic Substances Monitoring Program data for Hot Creek (Mono County) to determine beneficial use support and the results are as follows: 2 of the 2 samples exceeded the water quality standard for Mercury. This LOE contains data only for trophic level 4 fish. The concentration of Mercury in fish collected within the same calendar year, for the same trophic level were averaged into a single sample for comparison with the objective. A total of 5 brown trout collected during 1995 were aggregated into 1 annual average. A total of 6 brown trout collected during 2002 were aggregated into 1 annual average.

Concentrations of mercury in this segment of Mammoth Creek ranged from 0.00722ug/L to 0.127 ug/L. The exceedances were recorded at 160MAM080, downstream of Highway 395.
