Variance Policy and Interim Salt Program
Staff is proposing to amend the Water Quality Control Plans for the Sacramento River and San Joaquin River Basins and for the Tulare Lake Basin to include authority for the Central Valley Water Board to issue a variance from meeting water quality standards to NPDES dischargers in accordance with Tile 40, Code of Federal Regulations, section 131.13. Staff is also proposing to amend both Basin Plans to include a program offering relief from salinity requirements while CV-SALTS is under development. - Public Scoping Meetings: Scoping meetings have been scheduled for 24 June 2011 from 10 am to 12 noon at the Central Valley Water Board’s office in Rancho Cordova and for 5 July 2011 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the State Building in Fresno.
