PG&E Hinkley Chromium Cleanup

Feasibility Study for Hinkley chromium cleanup

The Lahontan Water Board has received from Pacific Gas and Electric Company a Feasibility Study report for final cleanup of groundwater affected by hexavalent chromium from PG&E's compressor station in Hinkley. The Water Board will consider the report in future orders to PG&E to implement final cleanup actions.

The Lahontan Water Board staff has prepared a Fact Sheet summarizing the proposed cleanup plan and requesting public comments pursuant to Water Code Section 13307.5 (public comments were due to the Water Board January 10, 2011). Copies of the report are available for review at the Water Board’s Victorville and South Lake Tahoe offices, as well as the Barstow Public Library. To review the report at the Water Board offices, contact Rebecca Phillips in Victorville (760 241-6583) or Lisa Dernbach in South Lake Tahoe (530 542-5424). Due to the size of the report (100 MB), the report will not be available on the Waterboard’s Website. If you would like a compact disk containing the report, please email Amber Wike or phone (530) 542-5400 to request the PG&E Feasibility Study CD. See a "text-only" version of the report. PG&E submitted supplemental data to the Hinkley Feasibility Study to the Water Board on October 15, 2010.
