SSO Reduction Program Review and Update

State Water Resources Control Board staff is conducting a review and update of the Sanitary Sewer Systems Waste Discharge Requirements (SSS WDRs), Order No. 2006-0003-DWQ, in 2009-2011. Program reviews and updates are conducted routinely to maintain consistency with current policies, regulations, and statutes.

Public Comment Summaries Received on the Revised SSS WDRs – May 2011

As part of the Sanitary Sewer System Waste Discharge Requirements (SSS WDRs) review and update, the revised SSS WDRs were circulated for public comment on March 24, 2011. The public comment period ended on May 13, 2011. A total of 176 comment letters were received containing approximately 2,400 comments on the proposed revisions to the SSS WDRs.

Note that the comments have been summarized to facilitate responding to them, and the summarized comments may be repeated in letters with similar comments. The summaries may include specific points regarding an issue that were not in your letter and/or may not include specific points that were in your letter regarding an issue. With the comment summaries, State Water Board staff has attempted to capture the intent of the comments and major supporting points made in the comments. Please email the SSO Reduction Program staff by January 15, 2012, at SBSSO@waterboards.ca.gov with an email subject titled Revised SSS WDRs Comment Summaries, if you need to provide further input and clarification on your comments. State Water Board staff will also be available to meet, if necessary, to discuss the comment summaries with representative stakeholder groups from January 9, 2012 through January 12, 2012. Please coordinate with your stakeholder group if you wish to meet to discuss the comment summaries, since State Water Board staff will not be able to meet with all individual stakeholders separately.
