Trans Bay Cable 2026 Maintenance Project
The San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board is currently reviewing an application for the following project for water quality certification under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. | Project Description: |
To reduce the risk of damage at sections of the cable in East San Pablo Bay and the Carquinez Strait where there has been loss of cover since installation of the cable, maintenance activities are needed to cover and provide protection to the cable and to remediate any spans in the cable that may develop due to the erosive activity. Maintenance of the cable is required to sustain reliable operation of the transmission system providing 40 percent of San Francisco's power. |
