Reissuance Process

Tentative Order No. R9-2024-0029

The San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board (San Diego Water Board) released Tentative Order No. R9-2024-0029, General Waste Discharge Requirements for Discharges from Commercial Agricultural Operations in the San Diego Region (Tentative Order) for public comment on March 29, 2024. 

The Tentative Order updates and consolidates existing waste discharge requirements adopted by the San Diego Water Board in Order No. R9-2016-0004, General Waste Discharge Requirements for Discharges from Commercial Agricultural Operations for Dischargers that are Members of a Third-Party Group in the San Diego Region and Order No. R9-2016-0005, General Waste Discharge Requirements for Discharges from Commercial Agricultural Operations for Dischargers Not Participating in a Third-Party Group in the San Diego Region (collectively referred to as the 2016 Ag Orders).

Public Comment Period

The San Diego Water Board released the Tentative Order for public comment on March 29, 2024. The public comment period closed on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 5:00 pm. See the Notice of Public Comment Period for more information.

May 2023 Public Workshop/Listening Session 

The San Diego Water Board held a public workshop during the regularly scheduled Board meeting on May 10, 2023. The public workshop provided an opportunity for Board Members to hear from stakeholders and members of the public regarding the Board members’ questions expressed at the September 2022 Board meeting.

August 2023 Public Workshops 

The San Diego Water Board held three public workshops in August of 2023 to discuss proposed changes to the 2016 Ag Orders and to receive informal comments from stakeholders and interested members of the public. The San Diego Water Board held the public workshops at the following times and locations: 

  • Rancho California Water District office – (in-person only) 
    August 15, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 
  • Virtually on Zoom – (online only) 
    August 18, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. 
  • San Diego Farm Bureau office – (in-person only) 
    August 22, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

April 2024 Board Workshop

The San Diego Water Board held a public workshop during the regularly scheduled Board meeting on April 10, 2024, at the Rancho California Water District office to discuss the proposed changes to existing waste discharge requirements and to receive comments from members of the public.
