Section 401 Water Quality Certification Public Notice

Ignacio-Mare Island 115kV Tower Replacement Project – Phase 5


The San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board is currently reviewing an application for the following project for water quality certification under Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. We encourage public comments on the proposed work, which will be considered in the decision on certification. You may submit comments on this project to the staff member below.

Project Description:

Inspection of PG&E facilities has determined that seven aging (i.e., installed in 1912 and over 100 years old) lattice steel towers and associated conductor along the existing Ignacio-Mare Island 115 kV Transmission Line need urgent replacement due to deterioration. The purpose of this project is to install new towers to replace the existing deteriorated structures and reconductor (replace existing wire).
