Department of Defense

The North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Water Board) oversees cleanup of wastes discharged at existing and formerly used defense sites throughout the region. The Department of Defense (DoD) Unit provides regulatory oversight of the DoD's Environmental Restoration Program (DERP). The DERP addresses cleanup of polluted defense facilities throughout the nation. The Regional Water Board works closely with the military and other federal agencies to ensure that needed cleanup actions are taken to prevent, control and abate environmental pollution.
