TMDLs and ARPs Adopted by Regional Board
A TMDL project may consist of a single water body and pollutant, or a combination of multiple water bodies and pollutant listings to restore impaired water bodies. The results of a TMDL investigation can lead to identifying the use of other regulatory tools to address the water quality impairment prior to adopting the TMDL as a Basin Plan amendment.
An Advance Restoration Plan (ARP) is a near-term action plan, with a schedule and milestones, that focuses on executing restoration actions prior to final adoption of the TMDL. If the actions of the ARP are successful in restoring an impaired waterbody, then the need for adopting a TMDL as a Basin Plan amendment is alleviated.
