Gabilan Creek Watershed Turbidity TMDL
Information
Problem Statement - The major streams in the Gabilan Creek watershed are impaired for turbidity. Turbidity is an optical measure of stream water clarity, reported in nephelometric turbidity units (NTU). Turbidity can be caused by suspended solids such as clay, silt, finely divided inorganic and organic matter, algae, and other microscopic organisms in water scatter light transmitted through the water and reduce clarity. At elevated levels, turbidity and associated suspended solids can have detrimental impacts on aquatic ecosystems.
