Water Code Section 1259 Report
A Summary of Pending Applications to Appropriate Water in the Counties of Marin, Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Humboldt
The State Water Resources Control Board is required to annually prepare a written summary, in chart form, of pending applications to appropriate water in the counties of Marin, Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Humboldt. The summary shall include a description of the status of each pending application, the actions taken in the preceding year, proposed actions for the upcoming year, and the proposed date for final action regarding the application. The report is required by Water Code section 1259.2 and is known as the Water Code Section 1259 Report.
The summary information for the Water Code Section 1259 Report for the years 2015-2024 is contained within the State Water Resources Control Board’s online electronic Water Rights Information Management System. To access the report’s information, please follow these instructions:
- Using web browser software, go to https://www.waterboards.ca.gov/ewrims/
- Select the link for “eWRIMS Database System”
- “Accept” the Public Records Act disclosure
- Select “Status of North Coast Applications (Water Code section 1259.2)”
- For “Report Year”, select the year, and then select “Generate Report”
Beginning in 2025, the Board is transitioning to a new database which will replace the eWRIMS database—the California Water Accounting, Tracking, and Reporting System (CalWATRS). In future years, the summary information for the Water Code Section 1259 Report will be contained within CalWATRS.
