OMNTEC Mfg., Inc.

Controller Models OEL 8000 11, K-OEL 8000 11 with
Liquid level sensors BX-PDS, BX-PDWF, BX-PDWS

INTERSTITIAL DETECTOR (LIQUID-PHASE)

Detector:

Output type:

qualitative, discriminating

Sampling frequency:

continuous

Operating principle:

optical sensor, conductivity

Test Results:
*California requires annual certification of all leak detection equipment. The certification of discriminating sensors should include functional testing of both water and product detection capabilities.

Model BX-PDS, BX-PDWF, and BX-PDWS: Sensors can only respond to liquid directly in contact with the detection element, and are unable to detect a product release floating on an existing pool of water whose height exceeds the level of the detection element.

Specificity Results:
Manufacturer claims sensors will respond to any liquid after its threshold is exceeded.
No additional materials tested.

Manufacturer's Specifications:
Manufacturer states that the sensors can also be tested from their location without removal.
The test procedure is as follows: When the test button on the controller is pressed, the normally closed light beam is opened, which simulates an actual leak occurrence, sending an alarm signal to the controller.
The controller responds to the alarm signal by turning on an audio/visual alarm and printing the test results.

Comments:
Optic sensor BX-PDS also contains a conductivity sensor to determine if the product is hydrocarbon or water.

Simulating a leak occurrence from the controller does not meet the 12 month operability certification requirement of section 2638(a) of the California Code of Regulations, title 23.
