2017 Scientific Basis Report Peer Review
To support the Sacramento/Delta Update to the Bay-Delta Plan, a Scientific Basis Report was finalized in 2017 pursuant to the requirements of California Public Health and Safety Code section 57004. The 2017 Scientific Basis Report reviews and summarizes the best available science supporting potential changes to the Bay-Delta Plan’s flow and water project operational requirements, building on science in the Delta Flow Criteria Report and other analyses. The 2017 Scientific Basis Report also provides a summary of the science on other non-flow stressors and proposed actions to address those stressors in concert with flow actions.
The Final Draft Scientific Basis Report was submitted for external scientific peer review facilitated by the CalEPA External Scientific Peer Review Program in January 2017, in accordance with Health and Safety Code Section 57004 requirements that the scientific basis of any statewide plan, basin plan, plan amendment, guideline, policy, or regulation undergo external scientific peer review before adoption. The focus of the peer review was the scientific conclusions described in the Final Draft Scientific Basis Report.
