Initial Monitoring Order

The Division of Drinking Water has published a draft monitoring order pursuant to Health and Safety Code section 116530 and Health and Safety Code 116378. This monitoring order requires community water systems and non-transient non-community water systems to conduct monitoring and reporting for per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Systems that complete the monitoring required by the order will also fulfill the requirements for initial monitoring found in the PFAS National Primary Drinking Water Regulation, promulgated by U.S. EPA on April 26, 2024.
